Current Internship Opportunities
- CACLD Scholarship for Students with ADHD
The Connecticut Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities has 20 scholarships available for students with ADHD. The scholarship awards $2,000 and a year of ADHD coaching services from Shire for one academic year. Requirements for interested applicants are as follows:
- US Citizenship
- Currently attending an approved college, technical school, or vocational school as an undergraduate
- Diagnosed for ADHD
- Currently under the care of a licensed health care professional for ADHD

- NASA Johnson Space Center Co-op
NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) is looking for students with disabilities to join their Cooperative Education Program (Co-op). The JSC co-op program allows engineering and business students to gain valuable work experience on an alternating school/work basis, and serves as a pipeline for our future full time employees. As a co-op, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to their continued work of building a new NASA vehicle to enable human deep space exploration, work on the operation and development of the International Space Station in cooperation with their Internal Partners, and work with industry to help foster the commercial space sector. Home to over 3,000 Federal employees, JSC is located about 25 miles southeast of downtown Houston.
Program Requirements:
- Attend an accredited 4-year university on a full time basis
- Good academic standing throughout the program (minimum 3.0 cumulative G.P.A)
- Be willing to work a minimum of 3 work tours (last tour must be no later than the summer before you are scheduled to graduate)
- U.S. Citizenship

- Natural Resources Conservation Service Internships
Interested in doing environmental field-work with flexible hours and pay? The NRCS, a service within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, now has internship positions available! - The American Association of Women: Bridgeport Area Branch
Approximately $5000 in scholarship funds is available for local woman residing in the Bridgeport area. Applications are due by March 15th, 2012. Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify for the scholarship:
- Have been a resident in any of the following towns for at least two years:
- Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Newtown, Shelton, Stratford, or Trumbull
- Have not received prior scholarship aid from the AAUW.
- Completed at least 30 credits by June 2012
- Plan to continue their education for the 2012-2013 academic year

- Have been a resident in any of the following towns for at least two years:
- Polish University Club of New Jersey
The PUC of New Jersey is offering a limited number of scholarships of up to $2000 to undergraduate students in need of financial assistance. Applications are due by March 21st, 2012. Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify for the scholarship:
- A New Jersey resident of Polish descent, a full time student, and a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
- Have completed their sophomore year as a full time student at an accredited college or university.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 of greater.
- Submit a copy of Student Aid Report received in response to the FAFSA application.
- Provide a seal official transcript. Transfer students must supply sealed official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended.
- AccessCollege: Paid Internships in Computing Fields for Students with Disabilities
A limited number of computing-related internships (software engineering, programming, web design, computer science research, etc.) are available on campuses and in industry nationwide for college students with disabilities who are considering the pursuit of computing studies and careers. These experiences provide insights into the many careers computing fields of study prepare you for. You do not need to be committed to a computing career to participate - just interested in exploring the options.
Those interested in participating in an internship or other activity associated with computing should fill out an AccessComputing application. Email Scott Bellman swb3@u.washington.edu for an application and more information. The application will soon be available on the AccessComputing website.
These offerings are part of the The AccessComputing Alliance. Funded by the National Science Foundation, this Alliance is directed by DO-IT (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology) and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington. - Emerging Leaders Summer Internship Program for College Students with Disabilities
The Emerging Leaders Summer Internship Program for College Students with Disabilities offers paid summer internships at many of America's leading corporations. These companies are members of the National Business & Disability Council (www.nbdc.com) and are proactive in recruiting qualified people with disabilities.
To qualify to apply for the Emerging Leaders program, you must:
- Self-identify as a person with a qualified disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Have completed a minimum of 60 college/university-level credits
- Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA
- Maintain full-time student status for the semester following your internship (graduating seniors immediately continuing on to graduate level study may apply)
- Have U.S. citizenship or be a documented alien legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Application packet must include:
- Completed application
- Current, business-appropriate resume
- 500 word essay on "How living with a disability has impacted my life".

- ENTRY POINT!
ENTRY POINT!, a program of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), offers outstanding paid, 10-week internships and semester co-ops in major companies throughout the United States, including NASA, IBM, NIH, NOAA and Merck.
ENTRY POINT! is available to students with disabilities majoring in life sciences, physical sciences, computer science, engineering, mathematics, and some social science and business fields. Students must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students; major in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or Computer Science; have a B average GPA (or higher); and be a U.S. citizen.

Lighthouse International is now accepting applications for its 2012 Scholarship and Career Awards program. Please visit www.lighthouse.org/sca to complete the online application. These scholarships reward academic excellence, recognize accomplishments and help students who are blind or partially sighted pursue their academic and career goals.
- Perdue Institute for Accessible Science (IAS)
The Institute for Accessible Science has announced that they are now accepting applications for two fellowship programs. These two fellowships are directed to students with a physical disability who are involved in the biomedical sciences. Both programs provide funding and support to students while engaging them in research or graduate studies. Applications for either program are due by March 1st 2012.
IAS Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship
- Begins in June 2012 and lasts for eight weeks.
- University housing provided.
- Research stipend ($4000)
- Research performed under the direction of a faculty member.
