Scholarships
- American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD) Scholarship Program (2009-2010)
AAHD created the AAHD Scholarship Program to support students with
disabilities who are pursuing higher education. Preference will be given to
students who plan to pursue undergraduate/graduate studies in public
health, health promotion, or disability studies, to include disability
policy and disability research. As 2009 is the first year of the
scholarship program, funds are limited and we anticipate that scholarships
will be competitive. Scholarships will be limited to under $1,000. Deadline:October 15, 2009. For more information, please visit the following website:

- The National Federation of the Blind of Connecticut - 2009 Academic Scholarships
The National Federation of the Blind (NFBC) is an organization dedicated to creating opportunities for all blind persons. In the furtherance of this goal, we have established our scholarship award program. Recipients of NFBC scholarships need not be members of the National Federation of the Blind. - 2009 College Scholarship for Students with Parents with Disabilities (from Through the Looking Glass)
Through the Looking Glass and its National Center for Parents with Disabilities and their Families are pleased to announce new scholarships specifically for high school seniors and college students who have parents with disabilities. - Campus Progress Awards
Campus Progress, a project of the Center for American Progress, works to strengthen progressive voices on college and university campuses nationwide; counter the growing influence of right-wing groups on campus; and empower new generations of progressive leaders. As part of that project, they are offering Campus Progress Action Grants to help support young people working to make a difference.
Applications are taking on a rolling bases and grants range from $200 to $1,000.

- Connecticut Disability Advocacy Collaborative
"Enhancing the effectiveness of disability activism in Connecticut by organizing and empowering individuals, families, group, and organizations."
"The purpose of the Collaborative is to draw from the collective strength and energy of individuals with disabilities and families, as well as the dozens of advocacy organizations that exist in the state, in order to have a meaningful impact on the way services and supports are provided people with disabilities in Connecticut. As a part of the organizing effort of the project, regional advocacy networks are being formed in nine different areas of the state. Workshops on self advocacy skill building will be offered in each of the regions."

- National Center on Physical Activity and Disability (NCPAD)
NCPAD is the leading source for information about organizations, programs, and facilities nationwide providing accessible physical activity and recreation. NCPAD also has a large and growing online library of fact sheets, monographs, and contact information on physical activity and recreation for people with disabilities. CSD and UPLD Merge
Through the merge of the Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD) and the University Program for College Students with Learning Disabilities (UPLD), one office now serves all students with disabilities.
