Get Your Learn on...

The Center will be hosting “Get Your Learn On” (think Lunch and Learns, but with a new attitude). This will be a three seminar series in the fall 2011 semester on various hot topics as they pertain to students with disabilities.

These seminars will be held at the Center in the Wilbur Cross Building, unless due to attendance we need to find an alternate location! Please RSVP to Bryanna Anderson (bryanna.anderson@uconn.edu) by emailing her with the date of the “Get Your Learn On” you would like to attend.

Dear Abby... Disability Edition

Need advice? Then come join us in a lively discussion with “Dear Abby” case studies. These case studies will be on various hot topics pertaining to students with disabilities in your functional areas and work to provide you with strategies in your day to day work with students.

Join us for a candid conversation and interactive presentation on how Disney depicts individuals with disabilities through movie characters. Learn how these portrayals may influence your perceptions!

Book Club Edition: Just Checking: Scenes from the Life of an Obsessive-Compulsive by Emily Colas

December 8, 2:00pm - 4:00pm

This book club selection will give us an opportunity to delve into the life of an individual with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Please join us for a discussion of the author Emily Colas’ depiction of her experiences of everyday life, college, being a parent and interacting with friends.
